Special Hangers

So, I'm sure there are some of you out there that think crocheting is for old ladies or something. And honestly, some of the crocheted things I see don't really tickle my fancy. Looking at these hangers that may be exactly what you are thinking. But trust me these are amazing! My whole life My great grandma would give us these silly little hangers for birthdays or Christmas or whatever. Growing up I don't think I appreciated them as much as I do now. I was just a kid who's mom did most of the laundry. But let me tell you why these hangers are more than just something else to crochet yarn on to. They are perfect grippers! Silky shirts and slippery material stays put. If you are like me I hang up my camis. These are perfect for that too. Again, no slippage. And have you ever had to hang something to dry like a nice shirt? And when you take it off the hanger there is that really annoying imprint from the hanger? I hate that thing! But with these nifty hangers you don't get that. Now, I may be a little sentimental over them, having had them around always and them totally being attached to memories of my Great Grandma in her chair crocheting. But I also Really think they are handy. One con-You cannot hang your pants on them. Sorry. :(

Well, my GG passed away a little over a year ago and I was sad that the hangers would be gone. I mean that in a sentimental way... not like some spoiled brat who wants more hangers kind of way... blah. ANYWAY Come to find out, she taught my Grandma, and this past weekend my Grandma attempted ( for the 3rd time!) to try and teach me. Well... this time I got it!!! I totally made my first crocheted hanger! And I'm so overjoyed that I can pass this little legacy onto my children and hopefully my grandchildren and MAYBE even my great grandchildren. That's what I knew I would miss... her legacy. But she made sure to pass it down along with so many memories and love and wisdom. Thanks Great Grandma! Love ya and miss ya.

Book Thongs (Don't let the name scare you. Totally G rated.)

What The Heck is this???

OH! I see.

I First saw these cute little things at a booth fair thing. LOL Then I got one from my Mother-in-law and I LOVE them! Such a cute, simple, convenient idea. And actually, the ones I've seen don't seem to cost TOO much, as long as they are basic and not extravagant. So the basic idea is use a waxed thread a little longer than the length of the book you will use, (or just a general book length,) get some fun beads, tie some knots, put the beads on in any order or style you want, then secure them with more knots. SO SIMPLE!! The hardest parts are learning how to put the knots in the right spots and knotting the ends. I've found that you should tie one END first, put on the beads, tie a knot at the base of those beads, string on the beads for the other end, let them slide down and tie the END then slide them to that end knot and tie a knot at the base of those beads. Does that make sense? It is simpler to tie the ends first then you're not trying to tie a knot with a tiny end of thread. These are perfect for all kinds of books. And you can have more than one for say... your scriptures, or text books. Things that you need to have multiple pages marked. Plus they just look cute and make wonderful gifts! So there you have it folks. Try it out. Tell me how you like them. Post pictures of your own if you like. And you can even get fancy. We like fancy! :) Good luck!

Sorry Sorry Sorry

For anyone who even checks this blog still, I'm sorry! I have been AWAL. I changed my blog name to "I can make that!" because I keep seeing all these cute but EXPENSIVE crafty things in boutiques and such. Well most of the things I see I know I can make for less. I'm going to try and take pictures of the things I see that I want to make and then the product I make. It is going to take me a while to get caught up with everything on here so be patient  and stay tuned because I'm super excited about all the things I'm learning to do.

Wow, Something happened because I have this little counter on here that sat at like 20 for the longest time. And now all the sudden there have been like 1000 visits or something like that. Thanks all. I guess I should get more bows up for you all to look at.

Be prepared

I have been taking pictures like crazy trying to get this blog up and going. Only problem is I am not so good at display type photos. So, know that the colors are not very good in a lot of these pictures and the bows really are much cuter in real life!! Just bare with me while I figure this whole thing out. Hope you have fun looking and hopefully purchasing. Enjoy!!

Our first Booth!!

So, here are some pictures of a booth that my aunt, my cousin and I did. It was fun. The rain was kind of a downer and didn't exactly bring in the dough, but we learned some things and plan on doing it again... I think. If anyone is interested in buying cards I have a link HERE for my Aunt's blog. And If you are interested in the scrubbies, (awesome little scour pad, wash cloth on one side, scrubby on the other. Totally amazing cleaning tool!!!) then you can contact my cousin on her blog HERE.
